Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls, organized by the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), is an annual event that raises funds to support North Texans facing hunger. Here's a brief overview:
-
Event Details: This fundraising event, held in Plano each year in February, features delicious, bowl-friendly fare prepared by talented chefs and restaurants from across North Texas. Guests can enjoy a variety of dishes while supporting a great cause.
-
Handcrafted Bowls: Each guest receives a handcrafted bowl made by a local artisan. These bowls serve as a reminder that not everyone has access to a full bowl of food.
-
Fundraising Impact: The funds raised from the event provide critical support to the NTFB's programs. For example, the recent 25th Anniversary Empty Bowls event raised enough to support more than 757,000 meals for neighbors facing hunger.
-
Community Involvement: The event also features an interactive shopping experience, raffle, and wine pull. It's a great way for the community to come together and support those in need.
Texas ranks as the second hungriest state in the nation, and the 13 counties served by the North Texas Food Bank, including Hunt County, have the fourth highest number of people facing food insecurity across the country.
The Empty Bowls program provides a way to fight hunger in North Texas. It is supported by other woodturning clubs in North Texas, including Dallas Area Woodturners and Golden Triangle Woodturners.
